I like to buy presents for friends and family. But around Christmastime, my joy turns into anxiety. Searching for the perfect present is difficult. Especially when time and a budget are of the essence. For some people, like my dad, it is so hard to find an appropriate present. For other friends, there is just too much choice. I wish Santa could help me out a little this year.
During Christmastime, that perfect present doesn’t seem so perfect anymore. What if the color isn’t right, it’s too big or they just find it ugly? Whereas I would come across the present in august, I would be so convinced that they would love it. But during the christmas season…
I think that for most of my friends and family (as for me), the thought you’ve put in to it is the most important, give a homemade scrapbook or decoration. But I try to look for materialistic nice, fun or useful gifts. But that is one of the first world problems we are dealing with, isn’t it? If we see something we want, we buy it. So by the time we have to make our wish list, the only thing we can come up with are matters of the heart: good health, happiness, a boyfriend, world peace.
A problem related to this, are living up to the expectations and showing or getting gratitude. Was that a real smile and thank you, or one of disgust for the tasteless gift that seemed so perfect before? Can you tell the giver that you don’t like the gift? I can imaging many families have fought over christmas dinner about the presents they were given.
So christmas season has lift off for a time of overcrowded stores, too much expectations and spending way too much money, but also gettogethers with family and friends. I hope you can find your perfect presents!
